A highly skilled Osteopath, Rehabilitation Pilates Instructor and Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) certified Golf Injury Specialist. More... After a foray into the corporate world of advertising in Paris, Claire Bergadaa moved to London to embark on a fulfilling career of accompanying people's journey to improved health and movement. She first completed the Pilates Polestar course at Moss Pilates, and has been teaching Pilates there for ten years, both group and private classes. In parallel, Claire completed a five-year Master's degree at the British School of Osteopathy, and graduated with awards: Valedectorian Medal (best overall performance)  Principal’s Prize for Clinical Excellence (best overall performance in the final clinical exams). Rising Star Award from the Institute of Osteopathy Claire's ten-year experience as a Pilates instructor strongly influences her practice of Osteopathy. She believes that movement is at the core of health and happiness. Her enthusiastic eye for movement and postural alignment has also been fuelled by many years of classical ballet, ice-skating, and aerial circus. She is currently a very keen rock climber, golfer and cyclist in her spare time. Claire Bergadaa is also a Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) Expert, specialising in the treatment, rehabilitation and performance enhancement of golfers. Claire is dedicated to offering a global approach in preventing and managing pain. She has treated patients aged from 16 to 94 years old, presenting with a wide range of musculoskeletal, orthopaedic and systemic issues. She has developed a structural approach to osteopathy, with a preference towards Sports Injuries and Rehabilitation, Golfers' Injuries and Performance, Elderly Care, Sciatica and Back Pain Relief, and Chronic Pain. Claire employs a broad range of gentle yet effective techniques including soft tissue massage, articulation, advanced spinal manipulation, and mindfulness to ensure her patients achieve the best possible outcome from her treatments. Helping people live healthier lives, through a deep curiosity and understanding of their own individual biomechanical and psychological influences, is what she strives to achieve every day. Claire is fully insured, a member of the Institute of Osteopathy, and registered with the General Osteopathic Council.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Exercise Rehab - How does it work?</image:title>
      <image:caption>Claire will be able to guide and facilitate your rehabilitation programme, and adapt it to the exact specificities of your injury, and your body's unique capabilities and limitations. Claire uses an interactive software with videos and descriptions for each carefully chosen exercise. The software allows you to give feedback on your progress; you can ask questions, rate your pain levels. This ensures you receive exceptional patient care, beyond the treatments received in the consulting room. Most importantly, she will give you specific instructions regarding the frequency and intensity of exercises to perform. In the acute stages of your injury, the focus of rehabilitation is on gentle movements and isometric work. The body experiences an inflammation phase with new tissue being laid down to repair the damage. Without advice, you might be rushing through this phase, which can lead to more damage. Once past the acute phases of your injury, the body continues to repair the damages, and you will be given progressive strengthening exercises, combined with gentle stretches. Towards the later stages, you will be given general functional exercises, to achieve full recovery and prevent the recurrence of symptoms.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Pilates - Pilates performed on the apparatus, or machines, provide a wide range of benefits: The machines create a supportive environment so that you can experience pain-free movement, and even move despite being injured. The machines provide resistance with springs which ensures your muscles are constantly under load and tension. The choice of the different springs, with different strengths, can specifically target certain group of muscles. The Pilates machines can create imbalance so that your body has to work twice as hard to recreate balance. Pilates machines provide different kinds of feedback to your body (closed and semi-closed chain), which stimulate your proprioception (neuronal sense of awareness of your body in space). The machines provide assistance for you to be able to experience movements that you never thought you would be able to do, because of fear, or general adult life interfering!
